Dr. Adri van der Zanden

At the forefront of Mozand laboratory’s molecular testing, Dr. Adri van der Zanden holds the reins, ensuring precision and accuracy. He also spearheads research and advancements in the realm of Next Generation Sequencing (NGS).

“In many ways, I serve as the knowledge hub for the team and even the CEO at Mozand Lab,” Dr. Van der Zanden jests. “From training to field discussions and the evolution of PCRs and NGS, I’m the go-to person. Collaborating with diverse stakeholders, my aim is to craft or refine tests that are not only efficient but also align with international quality standards and guidelines.”

For Dr. Van der Zanden, quality assurance is paramount. “While we’re always exploring cost-effective methods, our primary emphasis remains on delivering top-notch quality. Only after ensuring this do we delve into optimizing processes for further efficiency.”

He adds, “It’s truly exhilarating to transform conceptual ideas into high-quality products. The gratification multiplies when such products are not only cost-effective but also swiftly deployable, giving us a competitive edge in the market.”

Education:

• Biology with a focus on Molecular Biology (University of Utrecht)
• PhD from Radboud University Nijmegen, with the thesis titled “Spoligotyping, a tool in epidemiology, diagnosis, and control of tuberculosis”

Dr. Van der Zanden is a distinguished member of the Medical Molecular Microbiologist register under the NVMM.

Additional Role:

Since 2014, Dr. Van der Zanden has been an esteemed auditor for the Accreditation Council, evaluating laboratory quality systems based on the ISO 15189 standard.
